Coffee Talk provides parents and community members an informal opportunity to meet with Superintendent, Dr. Fred Czerwonka. The sessions will also serve to educate parents and community members on various set topics at West Plains Schools.
The West Plains High School FFA chapter made a $1,000 dollar donation to the Rotary Backpack Program to provide food for local children. The Backpack Program was formed this year by the West Plains Sunrise and Noon Rotary Clubs to help combat hunger among the youth. The backpacks, which are sent home with qualified students on Friday, include nutritious meals, fruit and applesauce cups, fruit juices and milk for Saturday and Sunday.
Brendon Wilson and Schanda Johnson, members of the West Plains FFA Chapter received the American FFA Degree. Earning the degree means Schanda and Brendon are one of a select group of individuals that were recognized for years of academic and professional excellence. The honor was presented on October 22, 2011 at the 84th Annual National FFA Convention, held in Indianapolis, Indiana.
The South Central Career Center Automotive Technology Department along with BACA (Bikers Against Child Abuse) and the Foster Parent Association of Howell County are restoring used bicycles to give to foster children.
South Central Career Center has been selected as an Outstanding Technology Centers That Work (TCTW) Center. This award is based on the success of center leaders and teachers in improving center practices and raising student achievement.
Congratulations to Bryan Hathcock, ProStart instructor at South Central Career Center, for his recent selection as the Missouri ProStart Educator of the Year. Bryan took his culinary team from South Central all the way to the National ProStart Invitational held in April. Way to go Bryan and keep up the great work!!
