The Missouri Ethics Commission (MEC) announced on Monday, March 30, that the complaint filed against the West Plains R-VII Superintendent Dr. John Mulford has been dismissed. The complaint, filed by a member of the West Plains North High School Election committee on January 21, 2015, alleged the superintendent of the West Plains School District violated section 115.646 of the Missouri Revised Statutes by using public funds to oppose a ballot issue.
The West Plains School District received a subpoena on, March 24, 2015, from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for records of former district employee(s) in regard to the ongoing investigation of the St. Joseph School District.
The West Plains High School choir co-hosted the 2015 MSHSAA Music District Festival at the West Plains Civic Center on March 19th & 20th. The festival was very successful for the West Plains High School choir. The varsity boys, varsity girls, chamber and concert choirs all received 1 ratings, making this year the 58th consecutive year the choir has received 1 ratings
The West Plains High School band co-hosted the 2015 MSHSAA Music District Festival at the West Plains Civic Center on March 19th & 20th, 2015. Twelve bands across southern Missouri competed in the festival. The Zizzer Pride varsity and junior varsity concert bands earned top scores from all judges. Out of 28 solo and small ensembles, 14 earned first division ratings, 13 earned second division ratings and 1 third division rating with 22 students qualifying for the state competition in April.
The entire West Plains Middle School 8th grade class recently received 165 new Zizzer Under Armour sweatshirts from West Plains Cares.
The West Plains High School Beta Club, along with over 2,000 students from schools across the state, attended the Missouri State Beta Club Convention March 7-9 in Branson. Students competed in individual academics, talent, and art competitions
